Welcome to the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) research group at the Technion Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering!

As a newly formed team, we focus on researching structural and multidisciplinary design optimization.

Our interests cover a wide range of topics that often involve different engineering disciplines, reflecting the complexities of real-world engineering problems.

In our work we formulate and develop numerical methods for system response analysis and design optimization.

We commonly employ techniques such as finite element analysis, analytical gradient computations (direct method, adjoint method), and automatic differentiation, with a preference for gradient-based optimization.

We develop our own software for scientific computing in Julia, Python or Matlab.
